Emma Penguin Pace Physio

Qualified since 2013

The Heart Behind the Pace:
Home visit physiotherapy & elderly care rehabilitation

I am Emma, the founder of Penguin Pace Physio. I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2013 and started working with older adults in their homes and care homes in 2019. Since 2023 that’s been all I do. Before then I worked in clinics and out in the community with a wide mix of conditions, including recovery after surgery and neurological conditions such as stroke.

Seeing people at home means I see what you are actually dealing with day to day, whether that’s a step you keep catching your foot on or a chair that is a bit too low to get out of. Your sessions are planned around that, rather than a generic exercise sheet, and I will keep in touch with your GP, consultant or care home staff when it helps.

I am driven by a deep desire to provide empathetic care with a deep understanding of the unique needs of our ageing community. My mission is to bring specialised rehabilitation directly to your home, ensuring every movement is supported by expert guidance and a touch of playful charm.

Why Choose Penguin Pace?

This is one of the few private practices serving clients in the comfort of their own homes across the Epping Forest District and surrounding areas. This matters more than people expect: familiar surroundings makes rehab less stressful, and I get to see exactly what you are dealing with day to day, whether that's a step you keep stumbling on or a chair that's just too low to get out of easily.

I provide a small, friendly and compassionate practice, that caters to every individuals needs, offering one-to-one, home visit physiotherapy sessions for people in their 50s and beyond who are dealing with declining strength, balance or mobility, whether that's after a fall, a hospital stay or surgery, or just the slow creep of getting older. I aim to keep you as independent as possible for as long as possible, whatever that looks like, from walking unaided to simply managing daily tasks on your own terms. Some clients see a real difference in weeks. Others I support on and off for years, because independence isn't a one-off fix, it's something worth protecting.

Beyond that, here's what private physiotherapy with me gives you that you might not get elsewhere:

  • Fast booking with low wait times, and no referral needed

  • Appointment times arranged around you and your family

  • Over a decade of experience, with extra training in massage, acupuncture, Pilates and taping

  • A personalised, bespoke rehab programme rather than a generic exercise sheet

  • Regular goal check-ins, so you always know how things are progressing

  • Someone who liaises directly with your GP, consultant, or care home staff when needed

Whatever's brought you here, whether it's a fall, a recent surgery, or just noticing things have got a bit harder lately, I'd love to help. Have a look around the site, and if you've still got questions, the FAQ section or a quick call is a good next step.
